| The implementation team of the Digital Opportunity Task Force (DOT Force) dealing with Action Point 1, to support the development of national e-strategies, presented its final report to the G8 summit in Kananaskis (Canada) from 25 – 28 June 2002. Created in the fourth quarter of 2000, the DOT Force set for itself certain Action Points, and within an Implementation Framework established a team for each point (see DOT Force and the Genoa Plan of Action).
‘Achievements: The work of the National e-Strategies team has led to the development of three initiatives: 1) International e-Development Resource Network (IeDRN): The IeDRN is designed to marshal worldwide efforts in support of national e-strategies for development. The IeDRN will establish a focal point for bringing together providers of e-strategy information and expertise with those individuals, organizations, and governments who can use the resources effectively. 2) The Global Digital Opportunity Initiative (GDOI): The GDOI is a global public-private partnership committed to increasing the impact of information and communications technologies to achieve development goals. The GDOI will focus on approximately twelve developing countries over its first two years.
